It's no secret that we think the best airline flying out of Rochester (much less around the country) is JetBlue. Ok, so many of you know that I (Jason) work for them. But all bias aside, for all of you who share my sentiments, take a look at the new premium Mint service that has been introduced on the transcontinental JFK-LAX market.
Fully lie-flat beds that rival the best international long-haul carriers, a 15" wide screen television with over 100 channels of DirecTV and loads of SiriusXM radio options, free access to the fastest broadband internet in the sky called Fly-Fi®, and even blue mood lighting to go with the experience. Are you someone that hates the middle seat or, for that matter, hates to sit by anyone? You may just be the lucky four of the 16 Mint passengers to score a single semi-private suite, complete with an automatic door.
Required to pay for a pillow and a blanket made specifically for the munchkins on their way to see the Wizard? Not in Mint. Receive your very own plush blanket the size of a comforter, a full sized pillow, and even real dining options that include a small-plates menu, baked goodies, and even fresh ice-cream! It should be a no-brainer that alcoholic beverages also come complimentary with full-bottle wine service.
And even if you have a sentimental JetBlue moment for the signature Terra Blues®, at any point in the flight you can help yourself to the MarketPlace of JetBlue snacks located between the Mint cabin and the rest of the plane.
Here's the best part: looking at a general Priceline breakdown for an arbitrary date (Nov. 10th) of what Business Class would cost for the same exact route, JFK-LAX, JetBlue is pricing its Mint Service at 40% less than what the nearest competitor is currently offering! And did I mention that these are all brand new planes straight from the factory in Toulouse, France (Airbus facility)? Don't even think that you're going to be paying for service on some plane that the Jackson 5 would have flown on.
The transcontinental service to and from LAX runs 5x's daily roundtrip. Service to San Francisco starts on October 26th with at least 2 daily runs with much more to come in 2015. If you have to make a run to the west coast in the near future, you might want to consider doing it in style while the introductory prices remain reasonable.
