From now until November 14th, the general public is treated to a purposeful exhibition at the Wintergarden in the Bausch & Lomb building in downtown.
Canstruction, presented by Buckingham Properties, is on its 8th year here in Rochester and is part of an international charity competition where designers, engineers, contractors and architects compete in teams against one another to build large-scale structures entirely out of full cans of food. The competition serves to raise public awareness about hunger and need in our community and the donated cans are all given to local food banks after the competition. In this instance, all food cans are donated to Foodlink.
The theme this year: Canstruction goes Hollywood!
And of course a FAVORITE of the Rochesteriat's for its local flavor:
Congratulations to all who entered the competition this year and for making it another great success! Sponsors and teams will be treated on Friday November 1st to an awards banquet at the Wintergarden.
And while we're at it, although the Wintergarden is a hidden gem here in the city and warrants its very own post at another time, if you haven't been in this beautiful, relaxing space yet - you must come and take a look. The Wintergarden is open to the public Monday-Friday.
Grab a coffee and/or a treat, sit and enjoy your surroundings, and even say hi to Trent while you're there!
