Many of you know that the Best of Rochester by CITY Newspaper recently wrapped up this past week. We were so excited just to be named one of the Finalists in the Best Local Website category, a huge honor that we don't take lightly, that we wanted to spend a moment giving a shout-out to the other 3 Finalists. We think all together, with CITY Newspaper and the multitude of other passionate urbanites here, we're creating a more exciting Rochester to live and visit.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes to all the winners and nominees in this year's contest, you can find them all if you start here.
Here's a look at the Best Local Website category.

Mentionables: Named Best Local Website 2015 - Best of Rochester 2015: Local Color; nominated Best Local Website in 2014 & 2013
What is it: Aptly called "The people's guide to Rochester, NY" as the site is updated, maintained, and curated by - who else? - the people throughout the Rochester region. You can, too, when you sign up as a registered user.
Think: The local Rochester version of Wikipedia with numerous lists and guides of EVERYTHING Rochester! With nearly 15,000 pages, you're sure to find what you're looking for.
We use it for: Straightforward, quick information that seems to be kept up-to-date as much as possible with a site this big.
Nominee - Rochester Subway
Mentionables: Nominated Best Local Website 3 years in a row since 2013
What is it: The ins and outs of Rochester, the good and the bad, concerning development, history, and new ideas moving forward.
Think: Local Rochester History meets Passionate Local Activists to make a better future ahead.
We use it for: Stay in the know, on a developmental standpoint, from some of Rochester's brightest and most passionate residents.
Nominee - Sir Rocha Says
Mentionables: Nominated Best Local Website, Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter - 2015
What is it:"...a local food & drink blog to help you discover new experiences in Rochester, NY."
Think: What and where the locals are eating around town. Also ROC food porn...as the photography is beautifully done.
We use it for: If Linh tries it, we want to also.
So once again, congratulations to all the winners of this year's contest. Each year, we see this city grow incredibly and we couldn't agree with Jake Clapp of CITY Newspaper more when he said, "Use [the results] as a visitor's guide to the city. Take some time over the next year...and try something new from this survey. And whenever you're in the mood for something specific and don't know where to go, open up this guide and try one of the top four."
Well said Jake - we shall do just that.
