We hear a lot about the "Crescent of Poverty" neighborhoods located in the northern sections bordering downtown. But what are we actively doing about the issues? The Greentopia Fruit Belt Project is changing all of this. Here's your chance to be actively engaged.
WHEN: Friday, September 4th @ 4pm
WHERE: Pour Coffee Parlor, 23 Somerton Street
WHAT: Pop-up Mural, create your own "Fruit Belt Swag"
The Greentopia Fruit Belt Project, a public art effort to revitalize the JOSANA neighborhood in the northwest quadrant of Rochester, has launched an Indiegogo campaign to provide the necessary funds to complete the murals and employ more Rochester youth as mural artists.
Funds raised from campaign will not only support employing more young artists, but will provide the necessary materials to complete the remaining portions of the project: paint and supplies for the three buildings, crosswalks and traffic boxes, as well as lifts to safely finish the upper parts of the buildings. Money raised will also pay for the artists to visit Philadelphia for a tour of the Philly Paint Project murals that inspired the Fruit Belt Project.
