Every year, Reconnect Rochester pulls together an initiative to get Rochesterians out of their car and traveling to their destinations in a different way - by the bus. It's called ROC Transit Day and this year it's Thursday, June 18th. In honor of the occasion hundreds of FREE transit cards are being given away that are good for the whole day (6/18) - take the bus as much as you want - there's no charge.
We wrote about it last year... and we're writing about it again, because we think it's THAT important.
When you take the bus you tend to live more local. What you save in gas you can spend on local businesses. Your money will STAY in your community. Reducing cars on the streets reduces traffic and makes our streets safer for people walking and biking. It’s better for our economy! And it’s better for your health.
Not only can you take the bus all day for free, anywhere it goes… this fare card will also score you deals at many participating businesses around the city. Find the list of deals and discounts here. If you are already an active bus taker, you can also show these businesses your card to enjoy the deals as well.
Don't forget the schedule of events, there's a scavenger hunt (with a grand prize of $500!), a street dance competition, poetry slam and more. See the Schedule.
This year we are excited to participate again with FREE all-day fare cards to give to you, our readers! To receive your FREE ROC Transit Day card contact Stefanie (firstname.lastname@example.org) and provide your name and mailing address, and we will put the card in the mail to you so you'll have it before the 18th.
Not too sure about taking the bus, what it involves and how to get from point A to point B? No worries - the folks behind ROC Transit Day have got you covered with lots of tips and tools to get you on your way.
