This Is What Happens When A Major Snowstorm Hits Our City

the Rochesteriat You may have seen the ABC News clip of the young man walking to work in Boston, in a suit and tie, during Mega-Storm Juno last week. Made us proud. That clip hits close to home as it shows exactly what we as Western NY'ers think of during all the hoopla portrayed in the media just prior to the supposed world-stopping-catastrophe. Hmmmmm, about that…

So on a day like today (Monday, February 2nd, 2015) with white-out conditions, snow banks that seem to cover up entire buildings, and swirling snow that literally takes our breath away, we thought we'd take some shots around our city to show the "craziness" at the street level.

The plows and salt trucks were out in full force in downtown...

…and everyone knows that the beautiful white color of the snow won't last for long...

…and even the benches and monuments start to get covered.

You can tell that for these car owners, this is not their first rodeo.

So what's so different about these photos here in our fair city in the Northeast? Nothing. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. That's right, it's snow. And it's deep winter. And, just a guess on the wild side, there'll probably be more. The good people of ROC still have to go to work, go to school, go grocery shopping, and live life - and we don't make such a big fuss about it. There are no "Breaking News" reports all over channel 8, 10, or 13, there are no news reporters standing in the middle of the streets talking about snow flying in sideways, and we sure aren't hearing things like "Colossal", "Massive", "State of Emergency", "Shut down", "Ridiculous", and "Frightening"...

…get your act together NYC and the Tri-State area - by golly, it's WINTER! W-I-N-T-E-R!

And just like the guy who was going to plow a driveway or two and then fishin' afterwards…it's just all in a day's work here in our city.

And for crying out loud, whatever you do, don't forget to feed the meters - parking enforcement does not have the day off either and they're sitting and waiting to catch all you non-payers - regardless of whether you can find the meter or not!
