Last year, City Hall and former Mayor Richards renamed the Manhattan Square Park in downtown Rochester to be the "Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park". This was a symbolic act to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historical activist's "Great March on Washington" for civil and economic rights for African Americans in late August of 1963.
On Monday, January 20th, the city will be holding a "Skate to Commemorate" event in the park to celebrate the legacy of peace and service to others that the great MLK Jr has left behind.
