If you've been following along with us for any length of time you've probably seen that we're pretty much all about one thing: the city. Living in the city of Rochester has many benefits. We are surrounded by great restaurants, galleries, shops, and more. We have everything we need right here. But sometimes, as a city resident, it's nice to get out and enjoy an afternoon outside the city, especially as the leaves begin to change. Here's a great opportunity to do just that.
As previously mentioned, there's a new train excursion nearby. The Niagara Wine Trail Trains take you from the Medina Railroad Museum for a tour 2 train ride through the beautiful Niagara Wine Trail Region and back. So, here are 4 reasons to get out of the city to enjoy something a little different this Fall.
1. It's a Short Road Trip
There's no need for a flight or a whole day of travel. Just a quick 50 minute scenic drive from the heart of downtown and you'll find yourself in the small town of Medina.
2. New York State's Largest Railroad & Toy Train Collection
For the kid in all of us, take a few minutes to explore the museum and oogle over the train collection you know you wish you had growing up...
3. Train Ride through the Niagara Wine Region
Take a seat inside and enjoy a cozy and festive ride through the countryside that is just outside of Rochester. This is the best time of year to enjoy the changing colors and the last bit of beautiful weather.
4. Wine & Dine
Enjoy sips from the region as you tastes wines from different wineries in the area. And bites from local restaurants...
"Each excursion showcases two Niagara Wine Trail wineries, offering a wide selection of tastings, from sweet to dry wines, red and whites, dessert wines, ciders, and more. Passengers are served gourmet farm-to-table dishes prepared using locally-sourced ingredients” (via Ben Woelk, WNY Excursions).
Beautiful fall days should be enjoyed whether it's in the city or outside of it. Go out and enjoy, there are only 2 Wine Trail events left this year...
... and then come back home to a great city.
