"The Next Time You're In..." is a new series that we'll feature all about the places we've been to in our travels that remind us of our good ol' city, or are places that are somehow inspirational to us and the ideas we'd love to see come back to our own backyard. Yes, it's good to get out and take a look around.
Salt Lake City. It's a place with a likeness to Rochester by its snowy, cold winters, and an urban size of nearly 200,000 residents. You may or may not know that our area has quite the connection with Salt Lake City in that the Mormon faith was founded in Western New York by founder Joseph Smith in the early 19th century. This would also explain why you may see an estimated 35,000 believers and spectators around the city every summer as the Hill Cumorah Pageant takes place on Route 21 between Palmyra and Manchester, NY.
But this post is not about the Mormon faith. If you're ever in the city of Salt Lake, there's a place called The Rose Establishment that you will want to check out. With delicious breakfasts, great coffee and amazing specialty drinks, you won't have to miss your favorite Joe Bean or Glen Edith roaster dates when you visit the heart of the city.
And for those of you running (or thinking of starting) your own cafe/restaurant here in our city, you need something like the Smashed Avocado and to add your own "Drink of the Week". The above was something called the Garbriella - a mixture of Lapsang Souchong and Pacific Coast Mint Tea infused Cold Nitro Brew with a hint of really good maple syrup and Workhorse Rye salted cacao bitters. Next to the gun on the table, that's a vegan donut to round out the experience - this was a hardcore delicious experience.
This has already become a favorite breakfast in our home: avocado, olive oil, pepper, fleur de sel, on really good toast served with a side of simple, quick lemon salad. Here's our plead: Can someone PLEASE bring this to ROC?
