Sibley Square recently has been reclaimed by WINN Development as 1 million square feet of multi-use residential and commercial space. WINN Development and ABODES Property Services will host the show which is sponsored by Rochester’s (585) magazine.

The event will feature furniture and accessories from Rochester’s leading resale stores, including upstate New York’s largest consignment shop, Sequels Home Furnishings of Victor, along with the area’s top Mid-Century experts from South Avenue Treasures and Abode of Rochester’s southeast neighborhoods. “This is a show highlighting stylish yet sustainable ideas for designing and decorating your home,” said Lewis Stess, founder of ABODES Property Services and show organizer.

Downtown Rochester is an exciting and growing urban residential experience. Nearly 7,000 residents currently live within walking distance of Sibley Square in renovated and repurposed residential spaces. In keeping with the mission of Sibley Square to revitalize and reuse some of the best of our past, the Downtown Living Furniture & Decor Show brings hundreds of brand name, quality furnishings and accessories that are very gently used, at very attractive prices.

The event is 2 days only: Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 5 pm. Entry is free.

The weekend show is both furniture gallery and pop-up retail shop. People can browse and buy authentic, high quality decor that maintains the best characteristics of past designs, updating it for today’s lifestyles. Living, dining, and bedroom settings will be adorned with art, photography, accessories and rugs. The show supports resource-saving, green choices in today’s home interior design.

Take a Walking Tour through Downtown

the Rochesteriat

the Rochesteriat

When traveling through the city, you're probably focused on the time and where you need to be. Most of us do it. But what you're missing is big, you're driving right by all the gems of Rochester's past (and future). Maybe it's time to get out of the car and give our city a second look, it is Spring after all.... right?

Did you know that the Landmark Society of Western NY has walking tours you can access online and on your phone? So, you can either print the maps ahead of time or just pull them up on your phone as you go! Why do we love this? Here are 4 reasons:

1. Six quick tours

These walks are broken down into manageable distances, averaging at 0.7 miles with the longest at 1.2 miles. You could even walk around the city for a few hours and enjoy each of these tours in one day.

2. It's good for you

We spend our time in cars, sitting down, eating, working at a desk and looking at our the screens on our phones. Going for a walk is good for you! When you travel to bigger cities like the Big Apple, you may not think twice about walking around for an hour or two (or five!) - why not do that here?

3. Our city is fascinating

the Rochesteriat

With quite a few years of Wall\Therapy under our belt we are constantly discovering a new mural, maybe you'll discover a few as well. Our city also has beautiful architecture, sculptures and unique things that are easily missed when not taken in slowly.

4. It's ok to leave the path

the Rochesteriat

the Rochesteriat

You might be on a tour to look at specific buildings, but who's to say you can go off the path just a little. Our suggestion? Head to the top of a nearby parking garage for a different view of some of the places you just looked at from the ground. You'll have a whole new perspective on the city.

Each of these 6 walks give you different views and different things to learn about our in city, its buildings, and its history. Take a break, grab a friend, and go for a walk.

The Rochesteriat

The Rochesteriat

Anytime Fitness is now OPEN in downtown Rochester!

In what was occupied by the former Downtown Fitness Center, Anytime Fitness provides access to those of us who wish to make our own workout times when we want - not based on anyone else's schedule. That's right, Anytime Fitness is just like it states, it's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - making it truly possible for you to get a good workout ANYTIME!

The Rochesteriat

You may remember the former space in the Columbus Building at 50 Chestnut Street (owned by DHD Ventures, same building as The Residences at the Columbus Building), but rest assured that it has been transformed into a totally different space - providing an open floor concept, soaked in natural light from those big, beautiful windows, meshed together with all brand-new equipment.

To give you an idea of just how great this new space is, here's our Top 8 Reasons to Love Anytime Fitness in Downtown.

1. Key Fob Access

the Rochesteriat

the Rochesteriat

One swipe with your new keyfob and you're in. No need for attendants to swipe your badge, card, or picture id. The doors to the building are secured at all times, there are 24/7 security cameras, and the only people you'll see in the space are trainers and members.

2. Brand New Equipment

the rochesteriat

the rochesteriat

Think you'll be working out on some beat-up equipment that has been in use for 20 years? Not here. All brand-new machines, weights, and accessories will provide you with a solid workout experience.

BONUS: The brand new cardio equipment offers the tech-saavy member the ability to watch Netflix, Hulu, LiveTV,  browse the Internet, and even connect your Bluetooth headphones.

3. Brightly Colored and Open

the Rochesteriat

Bad lighting and bland colors? Nope, again, not here. In fact, for those of you who remember the drabby DFC space will be surprised with an open-floor concept that includes plenty of natural light from the outside, bright colors to influence your workout, and an openness that keeps us from feeling claustrophobic.

4. The Flow...

the rochesteriat

And while we're on the subject of space, the workout center is situated all on one floor so that you can get all of your cardio, weight training, and stretching done without having to go very far or even between floors.

This makes it a lot easier for those of us to execute a great circuit training program, having the ability to switch up exercises without much rest in between.

5. The Studio

The Rochesteriat

The Rochesteriat

The Studio is a space for group classes (body sculpt, yoga, zumba, etc)...

the rochesteriat

...but it can also be utilized by anyone when there are no classes in session (exercise balls, light weights, stretching, jump roping, etc.).

6. The Beliefs are Front and Center

The Rochesteriat

The Rochesteriat

Because working together on your personal health is what it's all about...

7. ...and Inspirational

The Rochesteriat

...and there's also a place for YOU to jot down your ideas, thoughts, little victories - and to stay current for news and other information.

8. All the Extras

the Rochesteriat

In addition to the gym, be on the lookout for all the extras, including:

Private showers and bathrooms - to freshen up, with dignity, after a good workout
Personal cubbies - no need to bring your own lock

Rockbot - download the app to play your own selection of workout music
