The time has come for our annual announcement: Movies With a Downtown View presented by Buckingham Properties is back for 2019! We are in the final planning stages for another great year.

Last year we celebrated our 5th year by branching out to more locations which included Washington Square Park, Parcel 5, and the Hyatt’s rooftop Center City Terrace + Lounge.

The Last MWADV of the Season - Here's What YOU Need to Know

Tonight, Friday September 7th is going to be a magical evening. With great weather in the forecast, clear skies, and the popular The Greatest Showman movie playing, get ready for an exciting evening with hundreds of your fellow neighbors in downtown Rochester. Because this is our first-ever showing in Parcel 5 downtown, we thought we'd give some quick pointers so you can be prepared to enjoy the evening.

1. Find Parcel 5!

The Rochesteriat

The Rochesteriat

If you know where Tower280 is, the Democrat & Chronicle, Fuego Coffee, the Liberty Pole, or Sibley's, you'll find Parcel 5. This is what you're looking for! Need a map? Use this one: Parcel 5 (285 E. Main Street)

2. Bring your own seating

Parcel 5, to say the least, is mostly a square of gravel, rocks, and dirt. But that won't stop us from enjoying this area right in the heart of downtown tonight. You'll want to be prepared and bring your own seating with possibly a blanket to put the seating on. Get creative - just because the moon is a bunch of dust and rocks, doesn't mean it's any less important or useful to us.

Got a yoga mat, couch cushion, pool floatie or something else that will work? Bring it!

3. Bring a blanket and/or some warm clothing

The good thing is that the storms came through already and cleared the skies. That means the warm weather is behind us now, and we'll be enjoying a cool evening under the stars with 65-ish degree weather. Bring a blanket, hoodie, or whatever else is going to keep you cozy during the movie as it'll be playing from 8p-10pm (estimate).

4. Parking is abundant all around Parcel 5

Midtown-Garage.JPG

There is metered parking that is FREE (after 6pm) on ALL sides of Parcel 5. Plus, our Title Sponsor Buckingham Properties is opening the Midtown Garage (underground parking!) for FREE tonight from 6-11pm. That's over a thousand spaces of FREE parking....need we say more? OK, we'll also have bike racks available...YES, we did say more!

5. FREE Jetblue Terra Blues Chips, Water, Popcorn and Giveaways

the Rochesteriat

the Rochesteriat

Make sure to stop by the Washington Square Park Community Association, Buckingham Properties, and 88 on Elm tables tonight for some FREE giveaways and sign up for the FREE raffles. Yes, FREE. The Official Airline of the MWADV, Jetblue, will be giving away its signature Terra Blues potato chips (those same ones that you can enjoy on any Jetblue flight!), 88 on Elm will be popping and handing out free popcorn and Buckingham Properties will have complimentary water for attendees.

Make sure to sign up for our FREE raffles tonight at the WSPCA table, because, as always, we'll have local giveaways to great spots like The Little Theatre, Rochester Brainery, ROC Brewing, Upstate Social Sessions and more. And get this - tonight we'll be picking our Grand-Prize winner for 2-Round-Trip tickets on Jetblue anywhere Jetblue flies. Pretty cool, right!?

6. Dine With Us!

Joe-Bean.jpg

In addition to some free snacks, joining us tonight is Eat Me Ice Cream, Joe Bean Coffee Roasters, Ludwig's Center Stage Cafe and Taste the Roc. You'll definitely have plenty of options for dinner and dessert! See you tonight?

MWADV @ The Hyatt - Postponed

Hyatt-Space.jpg

If you missed your chance to purchase tickets to our SOLD OUT 5 Year Movies With a Downtown View Celebration movie night at the Hyatt, you just might get a second chance.

Last night (6/5/18), we were all set up and ready to go when it started to pour. Since A/V equipment and storms don't mix, we had to make the decision to cancel the event.

the Rochesteriat

But, we are currently working with the Hyatt to get this back on the calendar... we will make it happen! We're already thinking of ways to make the event even better, as we watch Office Space at the Center City Terrace + Lounge.

**UPDATE! We've just set our rain date at the Hyatt to be Thursday, August 2nd! Keep an eye on the Washington Square Park Community Associations website and Facebook Page as ticket sales will go live on Monday, July 16th at 5pm.

For more information about all of our movie nights, check out our recent post:

MWADV 2018: 5 for 5 Years!

Cancel your summer plans, we're back with Movies With a Downtown View presented by Buckingham Properties and we're celebrating our 5th year with 5 MOVIES!

For the unfamiliar, Movies With a Downtown View (MWADV) is a series of FREE outdoor movie nights that are held in downtown Rochester. For the last 4 years, we've shown two movies in MLK Jr. Memorial Park, but that just wasn't going to do for our 5th year celebration. This year in addition to those 2 events, we will also be showing movies at the Hyatt, Washington Square Park and Parcel 5.

Question is, are you ready?!!?

Here's what you need to know:

Rain Date - Thursday August 2nd @ 7pm, Movie: Office Space
Center City Lounge and Terrace, Hyatt Rochester Regency Downtown

the Rochesteriat

the Rochesteriat

If you haven't experienced the Hyatt's 4th floor, Center City Terrace and Lounge, here's your chance to enjoy it AND kick-off MWADV with us. Because space is limited, this will be a ticketed event.

For a ticket price of $15 (or $20 day-of and at the door), each attendee will receive a voucher for a beverage, gourmet popcorn from the Hyatt and a great movie night in a beautiful rooftop space.

Watch Office Space with us, sip "Milton's Mai Tai", our signature cocktail and enjoy our city.

Tickets are limited, so don't wait!

There will be food trucks with food and drinks for purchase and all of the usual wonderful MWADV festivities (free raffles, music and more).

the Rochesteriat

To wrap up our season of celebrating our 5th year, we're ending with a bang and will be showing The Greatest Showman in Parcel 5! We'll be doing our best to maximize the bit of grass there is for people with blankets, but we also know Rochesterians are CREATIVE. Besides lawn chairs, we're envisioning some creative seating taking place on this gravel so start your planning. We'll have food trucks, tons of giveaways and a great night in the heart of Downtown.

NOTE: Event starts at 6:30pm and movie will start around 8pm.

None of these events would be possible without all of our incredible sponsors, the City of Rochester, the support and partnership from The Little Theatre as well as the Washington Square Park Community Association. We hope you enjoy this summer with us.

As always, we will have an interpreter at each event and each movie will be shown with captions.

Keep an eye on the WSPCA Website, as well as our Facebook Page for more event details as we're always tweaking the details and adding more fun to the mix - see ya soon!
