Dear Rochesteriat Readers, Followers, Fans, & Supporters:

As we wind down the year 2015 and we get ever-closer to the Thanksgiving Holiday next week, we want to take a moment to thank you all who have been loyal supporters of us for the past 2-and-a-half years and counting. Along with our website and Weekly, we are so grateful to express our gratitude to our thousands of followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. A special thanks goes out to our very first customers that have purchased ROC goods from our newly opened SHOP, and we'll keep adding exciting products and deals to it to provide you with the best ROC has to offer.

In addition, we are so excited that the city of Rochester is growing in terms of new businesses and that more and more people are deciding to live, work, and play in the city limits. With such a small team here at the Rochesteriat, it's always a good problem to have when you find it difficult to keep up with all the positive changes being made. In early 2016, we're going to announce some very exciting developments in the works for the Washington Square Park and the ever-elusive Cannon. What would all this work be for if we can't make positive changes in our own neighborhood?

We are also so grateful for the tremendous support shown to us at the Movies with a Downtown View events over the summer months, and are happy to announce that our partnership will continue with The Little Theatre in the 2016 year. Again we'll be featuring one movie in July and one in August, and of course we'll have a great selection of food trucks and vendors on site to provide a great movie-watchin'-under-the-stars experience.

In the coming weeks as we say goodbye to 2015, you may notice some distinct changes to the site as we prepare for a growth-filled New Year. We've said from the beginning that this "project" is certainly not a one year deal - it is going to be a 20+ year deal to make positive changes in this city we love. In order to constantly evolve and improve, we have to constantly assess the effectiveness of our site and make improvements when necessary.

Once again, thank you for joining is on this journey. Keeping reading our posts, liking our pictures, and giving us your thoughtful feedback to make our business - and Rochester - better.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Little Barrel Bourbon - Here's One Great Shot to Get You Out on Black Friday

the Rochesteriat If you're anything like me, you could care nothing about Black Friday and whatever time Walmart, Target, and Best Buy are opening up (pretty much standard on Thanksgiving evening now). Whatever happened to digesting Thanksgiving dinner and just enjoying the Holiday with loved ones?

Not to worry, Jason Barrett and Black Button Distilling promise to make this year's Black Friday a day worth going out for - without infringing on your actual Thanksgiving Holiday.

the Rochesteriat

On Friday, November 28th, Black Button Distilling will be releasing the first locally made-craft bourbon to hit the market in Monroe County since Prohibition. They are calling this Little Barrel Bourbon, a limited 1,400 bottle production that has aged four months in 5-gallon barrels.

the Rochesteriat

"It is the same recipe going into the barrel as the big barrel Bourbon that will be released next year, giving craft bourbon fans an opportunity to taste what’s coming at Black Button Distilling.

'The time in-barrel and size of barrel have a dramatic effect on the flavor of the bourbon. It’s a much younger, corn flavor, than a traditional bourbon, but it’s very smooth for its age,' said Jason Barrett
, Black ButtonDistilling President/Head Distiller.

The one-time limited release of 1,400 375 ml bottles will sell for $39.99 per bottle, with a limit of one case purchase per person. Little Barrel Bourbon will be available in the Black Button Distilling Rochester, NY tasting room over Black Friday weekend and will be available in all the finest local liquor stores beginning December 1st."

And the time to show up at Black Button Distilling on Black Friday? Certainly not in the AM….opening doors are at 3pm on Black Friday, so there's no need to get up at the crack of dawn to get your first taste of this historic bourbon.

Or maybe it'll just be you here in Rochester, all by your lonesome. No worries! We stopped by our favorite (and only!) downtown grocery store recently - Hart's Local Grocers - to find some great ideas to dress your table with on November 27th. While you're feeding yourself, there is no better time to give thanks to the local farms and organizations that feed our economy here - helpful tip, look for the little red and white LOCAL tags.
