Who Are YOU Voting For POTUS?

Ha, if you thought I was actually going to start in on that craziness, the big jokes on you.

This post is NOT going to be about Tuesday's upcoming presidential election. And by the way, Stefanie and I do believe you have to get out and vote...whether or not you like the current political arena and/or choices (no judgement here, hmmmmm...), we can still do the right thing and vote.

The truth is - and I'm just going to say it - we here at the Rochesteriat believe we've already voted for the most important election of the year - CITY Newspapers "Best Of..."  awards!

With that said, we'd like to extend a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all of the winners and nominees for the CITY's "Best Of Rochester 2016". The results are in, the people of Rochester have spoken...now we could only wish that Tuesday's election would carry on the ballot some of the most amazing people and businesses that our city has to offer.

We were honored this year to be nominated again for Best Local Website and want to send a BIG CONGRATS to RocWiki for another win in this category. Other formidable nominees in this category (and good friends of ours!) were Rochester Subway and Sir Rocha Says, an exact repeat of 2015.

One last note, and I just have to say this in all honesty - when we started the Rochesteriat, we felt that the category for "Best Place to Take an Out-of-Towner" was a little unnerving...I mean really, the best place we'd take family and friends coming from outta-town is Wegmans? Seriously? Nothing against Wegmans - we take pride that they're the Best Supermarket in the entire WORLD! - but as a "You-Must-See-This-To-Get-The-Full-Rochester-Experience"...??? Because we think that outta-towners haven't seen a grocery store, a shopping cart, or food - ever?

Rochester - you clearly inspire us to strive for more....and I'm not talking about "strive for 5" in the grocery sense of Wegmans. One of these years when Genesee Brew House, George Eastman Museum, High Falls, the Strong Museum of Play, or another amazing place overtakes this category, we'll know we've finally arrived. We may never have put it into that context before, but that's kinda the goal we're after.

Thanks CITY Newspaper for keeping it in perspective for us. Onwards, because the work continues!

Jason is co-Founder of the Rochesteriat. Yup, we need to stop sayin' that Wegmans is the best place to bring an out-of-towner....that's lame. Join the conversation on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.
