Admittedly, one of the best things about living in a city like Rochester is that, not only is there so much to do in our own backyard, but we are surrounded by incredibly lush land and beautiful scenery - it's hard to ignore the creative offerings calling from just a short drive away. And who in their right mind would want to?! Life is about exploring our world, our place, our home and surroundings...and feeding our minds with the cultures and ideas presented by our neighbors who we share the earth with. Ok, enough with all that touchy-feely stuff. Let's get down to business.
Autumn has begun, the leaves are already changing, and the weather - well, it's Rochester - it can be 80 degrees and sunny one moment, then 55 degrees and raining the next. Whatever the weather, take advantage of the fall colors by going on an exploration out of the city at the Niagara Wine Trail Winery Trains!
Hop aboard a train at the Medina Railroad Museum and take a 2-hour scenic ride through the vineyards, orchards, and countryside of Western New York.
"The Niagara Wine Trail Winery Trains offer a unique experience of the Western New York countryside, taking passengers through the fields used to harvest the ingredients for the food and wine they are enjoying on the train.
Each excursion showcases two Niagara Wine Trail wineries, offering a wide selection of tastings, from sweet to dry wines, red and whites, dessert wines, ciders, and more. Passengers are served gourmet farm-to-table dishes prepared using locally-sourced ingredients. A First Class option provides table seating in a vintage 1949 dining car, with live entertainment and one-on-one time with winery representatives." (via Ben Woelk, WNY Excursions)
